Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama

In April of 2009, I met a guy who will become my first real serious boyfriend. His name is Ryan and if I could pick on movie character to describe him it would be:
Yep. Buddy the elf. Buddy loves sugar and Santa. Ryan loves peanut butter and carving pumpkins. To make Elf's day, sing him a Christmas song and all I need to do to make Ryan smile is make him pancakes. He's just a very new soul, every day is a new adventure and the littlest things will excite and make his day. It's probably why I love him so much. He is however, far more cute...
So about 6 months in, it was clear we'd be together for a while and it was safe to assume at the very least we should do was plan a trip for our year anniversary. After thinking and thinking he came up with the idea of a cruise. We used a site called vacationstogo.com where they take cruises that aren't full and discount the price for you. Since Ryan hadn't been to NYC before, we chose to go there for a few days then take a cruise to Bermuda. After doing a little research about this 17 mile long island, I realized the best things to do were drink rum and lay on the beach. Count me in!

After the boat docked, we had three whole days to explore. We were a little excited...(poor Ryan forgot to put on his sunglasses haha)

The whole island is covered with these walk ways called "Moon gates." The legend says that if you kiss under them, you are granted a lifetime of love. Let's hope it's true!

After researching cool things to see, I found the Crystal Caves which turned out to be really amazing.

This giant under ground formation (120 feet under ground) is made up of stalactites and stalagmites that have been dripping for thousands of years. This cave was first discovered in 1907 when two boys were looking for a lost toy and found a hole down to them. The water is so crystal clear that a formation that looks to be a few inches is actually a few hunfred feet. It was truly incredible and I highly recommend making the trip!
After we were done with the caves, we went back towards the dock to a small beach called Snorkel Park.

Snorkel Park is cool, it's free and small but it's definatly some where to just take a rest. If you want to get to the really nice beaches, go more towards the St. George side or go to Hamilton.

Our second day on the trip, we looked up this guy named Tony who does glass bottom boat tours and snorkel trips. Since we went in April, it was actually a little too cold to go in the water. The weather kept going from sunny to "tropical" every few minutes. Even if we didn't get in the ocean, we still got wet!
Tony is awesome and took us all around the super rich houses on the island.

Are you ready for the BEST part of the day? Tony let us stand on a sunken ship!
You can't quite tell, but my legs were shaking! That ship is a lot steeper than it looks!

Now, on to the best part! My favorite beaches:

Turtle bay is so beauitful but, has a ton of jelly fish. If you plan on swimming, beware!

This beach has great rum swizzles! Just don't ask what they are!

Another really cool thing about Bermuda is the fact that the houses are all in neon colors! Ryan now thinks this is acceptable to paint our future house neon blue. No chance.

Be sure to see the unfinished church:

There were two bars we really liked:

Here are some of my favorite pics of the whole trip:

We were sad to leave! Who knows, one day we might be able to come back!
